We fell in love with the flavorful food and friendly staff instantly, and prices were very reasonable.
For the next year and half, we frequently returned and the food was consistently tasty, and the staff always pleasant. Prices slowly crept up, but my guess is due to the cost of the being in the area.
When we relocated to the Williamsburg area, we were beyond excited when we found a Haab just blocks from our house (we would have trek'd if needed to this location!). And like the Park Slope location, the food and staff have been consistently above and beyond.
Sure, there are cheaper Mexican spots all over Brooklyn, but NOTHING compares to the amount of food, the flavor of each dish, and the staff at Haab. We won't go anywhere else for our Mexican food fix. read less

I love Mexican food and I tell you this place is one of the best I've had since my trip to San Antonio a few years ago. Anytime I see enchiladas on a menu I am going to get them. I love them, though the dairy does not love me back. There was a nice drink menu, alcoholic and non alcoholic. My friend got a fancy new hibiscus lemonade and I went with the tamarind Margarita. The food came out quickly, fresh and very hot (enchiladas are served in a special bowl).

We ordered the chips and guac, Birria tacos, carne asada tacos, beef tostadas and the shrimp cerviche. All the food was really good but the Birria tacos were the biggest hit! The guac was fresh and not full of fillers. The carne asada was tender and flavorful, not dry. The tostadas was also super yummy even though I normally prefer soft flour tacos and I'm not a big fan of beans but me and my husband devoured it.

What a hidden gem, located on the more quiet 6th Ave of Park Slope. In full disclosure, Park Slope Ale House wasn't open. Wandered in by default and what a great back up choice.
The food is fresh. It's what's most noticeable. From the produce to the protein. And the atmosphere is fun and festive! You also know it's a going to be a great experience when you sit down and see they have a triple threat on taps. Negra Modelo, Pacifico, and Modelo Especial. This might very well be the Holy Trinity of beer and I'm here for it. Terrific selection of cocktails and full bar if the above isn't your thing.
We also noticed how thorough the staff was cleaning the dining area. Tables, chairs, BACK OF CHAIRS...really above and beyond. Plenty of outdoor seating and individual hand sanitizers throughout the restaurant. Thanks for keeping us safe, Haab!

I was attracted, of course, by the vegan section on their menu, but was pleased to also receive outstanding, quick, and friendly service outside. Like many NYC restaurants in 2020, Haab has set up an outdoor space for socially distanced dining. The structures feel safe and airy but with plexiglass on three sides to provide a bit more enclosure.
Our masked waiter suggested I try the Burrito Arabe after our requisite (delicious and impossibly creamy) guacamole and chips starter. The burrito was huge and delicious with chunks of grilled seitan, rice, beans, vegan cheese, and an outstanding arabe sauce. I am hesitant to say this because I haven't been back to Houston in a while, but I was having some solid TexMex flashbacks which have been rare since moving to NYC.
Definitely give this spot a try, and next time I'll remember to take a picture of the food before I dive in. Promise. read less

If you go to eat al fresco, they come and clean the table for you, then serve you menus and drinks. Entrees arrive in real pottery. I usually go for the enchiladas. They are baked in a small casserole dish and served fresh out of the oven with a topping of avocado and crema. Totally Delicious! They provide a selection of sauces as well. But the quality, the detail, the elegance of so many of the salsas, sauces and seasoning put it at the highest level of cuisine, regardless of style or price.
Try the Salsa Fresca, try the Tamarindo Margarita, the regular salsa that comes with the chips. Try the home made tres leches cake. Try the shrimp taco, the meat tacos. Enhance them with the salsa fresca and just live a little.
If you don't get it your heart is just made of stone.

I've turned a few friends onto Haab and they end up loving it as much as I do. It's authentic and has a very warm vibe.
